The Council of Ministers approves at its meeting today the Family Law, a regulation prepared by the department of Ione Belarra that equates the rights of unmarried couples and that of married couples, includes a paid leave of five days a year for care of a relative or cohabitant and extends the benefits of large families to single-parent families with two children. This morning’s meeting at La Moncloa marks the debut in the Cabinet of Héctor Gómez, the new Minister of Industry as a substitute for Reyes Maroto, and José Manuel Miñones, who occupies the portfolio vacated by Carolina Darias. The meeting is also preceded by the announcement by the Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, that Spain has reached an agreement with the European Commission to extend the Iberian exception until December 31, which will take place today to the Council of Ministers, although the formal adoption by Brussels will be pending.
